River Clay selects 75 artists for annual arts festival

Organizers of the River Clay Fine Arts Festival announced the 75 artists selected for the third annual event scheduled for Sept. 23-24 in downtown Decatur. Representing nine states, the line-up includes sculptors, painters, photographers, jewelers, metal workers, printmakers, fiber artists, wood carvers, ceramicists, glass artists and drawers.
Local artists selected to show at the festival are ceramic artists Brian Corry, Martha Marks, Richard White and Rick Adams of Decatur, painters Daniel White, Johanna Littleton, Mary H. Reed and Scotty White of Decatur, mixed media artists Jason Sharp and Sloane Bibb of Decatur, jewelry artist Leigh Ann Hurst of Decatur and wood artists Cecil Cole of Decatur and Teri Holland of Somerville.
Other artists will represent Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina and Michigan.
The festival will take place on the grounds of City Hall, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 23 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 24. Activities will include artists’ demonstrations, a children’s area, student art exhibits and music. Weekend passes cost $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger. The River Clay Rendezvous, an arts patron preview party, will open the festival Sept. 22, 5-9 p.m. Tickets cost $50 and must be purchased in advance.
