National Night Out with the Decatur Police Department
The Decatur Police Department united with residents to celebrate National Night Out on August 1, 2017.
To kick-off an evening of community camaraderie, officers interacted with participating neighborhoods and businesses through three city-wide events: a sidewalk art chalk contest; a theme party competition; and an “Identify the Burglar” mystery challenge conducted by participating officers.
Health Connect America’s concept for a drug-free world helped them secure a first-place finish for their sidewalk chalk decorations.
As for the most inventive theme party, Community Action stole the show by hosting a riveting mystery party for visitors.
The Vernon Street Southwest neighborhood proved their investigative tactics by cracking the case in “Identify the Burglar.”
Each community group winner was rewarded with a prize presented by the Decatur Police Department.
Chief Allen along with other employees of the Decatur Police Department would like to thank the community for their support and dedication to this unifying event.
