#DPDRocks: Hiding Rocks with the Decatur Police Department
The nationwide trend of finding painted rocks has rolled into Decatur, Alabama!
The Decatur Police Department’s Safety Education and School Resource Unit is connecting with students through this fun experience by hiding rocks at all Decatur City elementary schools.
Positive messages on the painted pebbles will tie back to relevant course programming, such as “No Bully Zones,” “Be Drug Free,” and “Helmets are Cool.” The activity will reinforce important class content, as students re-hide the secret rocks for their peers.
Parents, we encourage you to help share the movement on social media by using the hashtag #DPDRocks when posting pictures of your child’s adventures in the rock hunt.
The Decatur Police Department extends its heartfelt gratitude to Epic Church’s youth group for doing an excellent job of decorating our first batch of rocks for hiding.
If you would like to participate, feel free to join in the fun by painting a few rocks and dropping them off at the Decatur Police Department’s front desk. We kindly ask that you leave the fun of discovery the rocks to the elementary school students.
