How Do I Bail Someone Out of Jail?
There are three ways to make bail for someone in the city jail.
- Cash Bond. You may bring the bond amount in cash, certified check or money order to the magistrate’s office during regular business hours or to the front desk of the police department after regular business hours.
- Property bond. A property owner in Morgan County can bring an official copy of their deed to the magistrate’s office during regular business hours or to the front desk of the police department after regular business hours and use the property as collateral for the bond amount. The owner of the property listed on the deed must be present and present a valid identification card to use this method.
- Bonding company. A bonding company can be used to post bond for someone. There are several bonding companies authorized to make a bond with the city jail and they can be located in the phone book. The fee charged by a bonding company is typically a percentage of the cash bond amount and must be paid before the subject is bonded out of jail.
