The Decatur Municipal Court is pleased to offer Defensive Driving School (DDS) for various types of moving violations. Following the guidelines of the Court, a defendant may make application to attend DDS prior to his/her court date by completing the Defensive Driving School Request Form and emailing it to the Court at: court@decatur-al.gov or by visiting us in person at our Municipal Court Annex located at 300 Cain St. NE Decatur, AL 35601.
NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED TO THE DEFENSIVE DRIVING SCHOOL CLASS WITHOUT THE PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE COURT!!
Eligibility requirements
- You have not attended the City of Decatur Defensive Driving School in the last two (2) years.
- You have a valid state issued Drivers License or Hardship License.
- You do not have a Commercial Drivers License.
- You were not traveling 25+ over the speed limit.
- You are not charged with speeding in a school zone.
- You are not charged with passing a stopped school bus.
- You are not charged with a moving violation in an active Construction Zone where workers were present.
No online driving school or alternate program will be permitted barring an extenuating circumstance for which a defendant may contact the court via email at court@decatur-al.gov to request.
Federal law prohibits any person possessing a Commercial Drivers License to attend Defensive Driving School.
